How do I know if a live stream stops working?

In this story

Where: Newsroom → Your live channels → Live video checks

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/newsroom/streams (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

  1. Open Newsroom → Your live channels, then open Live video checks. Each live stream has a card.
  2. Read each card: Working, Down, Not checked or Not monitored, with Checked and the time, or Down since.
  3. Tap Check now to test a stream.
  4. Tap Settings to switch Check this stream regularly on, choose How often (every N seconds), and write the fallback Message. You can also pick a slate image.
  5. Save. You see "Monitor saved."

Good to know

  • Readers see your fallback message instead of a broken player.
  • YouTube Live streams can’t be checked from here.
  • No card? The page says "No live streams to watch yet. Add a channel first." See Your live channels.
  • Errors say, for example, "The stream server answered with error …" or "The stream couldn’t be reached."
