Where: Stories → Bulk changes
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/newsroom/bulk-changes (replace <your-site> with your site address). In the menu it sits under More.
Before you start
- You work with your own permissions. The change runs in the background as you.
- Only the site owner can unpublish or move stories to the trash in bulk.
Steps
- Open Stories, then Bulk changes.
- Under Find the stories type words from the headline or summary, or choose a tag, a section, a status or dates.
- Press Find stories.
- Read N stories will change. Only stories the change would really change are counted (up to 2,000).
- Under What to do choose Add a tag, Take a tag off or Move to a section. Then pick the tag or section.
- Press Make this change.
- Read the box Change N stories? and confirm. Published stories change on the site at once.
- You can leave the page. Watch the progress under Recent bulk changes.
Steps: undo
- Under Recent bulk changes find the change.
- Press Undo all and confirm.
- Every story it changed goes back as it was. Stories someone changed since are kept.
Good to know
- The list you found is kept for 30 minutes. After that, press Search again.
- The row shows N changed, N already right, N could not be changed. Open Stories that couldn't be changed to see why.
- You can press Stop while it runs.
- Unpublish and Move to the trash are owner-only and need a fresh sign-in. You can undo them: unpublished stories are published again and stories in the trash come back.

Common problems
- "Type some words or pick a tag, a section or dates." Give the search something to find.
- "Pick the tag or section first." Choose the tag or section for the change.
- 0 stories will change. The stories already have that tag or section.
- "Only the site owner can unpublish or delete stories in bulk." Ask the owner.

How do I move 50 stories to a new section?
Find them by tag, words or dates, choose Move to a section, pick the section and press Make this change.
Can I undo it later?
Yes. Use Undo all under Recent bulk changes.
Will readers see the change straight away?
For published stories, yes. It runs in the background, so a large change takes a little while.
