How are comments checked before readers see them?

In this story

Where: Readers & money → Comments → Comment settings (How comments are checked section)

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/comments/settings#how-comments-are-checked (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

  1. Open Readers & money → Comments and tap the Rules tab. It shows your comment settings.
  2. Under How comments are checked, choose one:
    • Check before showing. A reader posts at 9:00. It appears only after you approve it. Safest, but needs someone to check often.
    • Show first, check later. It shows at once. Readers can report it and you check the queue later.
    • No checks. Comments show at once and are looked at only when readers report them.
  3. Tap Save.

Good to know

  • Check that a reader is a person on their first comment is a quick check that stops bots. It is recommended.
  • Comments with a blocked word can be held for your check.
  • Comments waiting for you are in the Waiting list of the comments desk.
