How do I choose how my site makes money?

In this story

Where: Settings → Readers & money → How your site makes money

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/monetization (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage the site.
  • Paid features, like the paywall, must be added to your site first. The page tells you which one is missing: "To use this you need the add-on "{feature}" first." See your plan on keynate.com.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Readers & money → How your site makes money.
  2. Pick one card:
    • Free with ads: everything is free to read. You earn from adverts.
    • Metered (a few free stories): readers get some free stories each month, then are asked to subscribe.
    • Free plus paid stories: most stories are free. Selected stories are for members only.
    • Members only: readers must be paying members.
    • Donations and support: everything is free. Readers can support you with a gift.
  3. Read What readers see and Needs.
  4. The page says "Saved."

Good to know

  • This sets what your public site shows. Which stories are locked or paid is still decided by your paid features on the server.
  • If your current choice needs an add-on that is no longer active, parts of it are switched off.
  • You can change your choice later.

Questions
