How do I change the order of search results?

In this story

Where: Growth → Search & SEO → What readers search → Ranking

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/search/ranking (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

Only the owner can change these settings. Others can look.

Steps

  1. Open Growth → Search & SEO → What readers search → Ranking.
  2. Under Newer stories first, move How much newer stories count between Best match first and Newest first.
  3. Set A story counts as half as fresh after a number of hours. Shorter suits fast-moving news. Longer suits guides and features.
  4. Under What can show up, choose what search may include.
  5. Open Advanced only if you need it. Most sites never need these.
  6. Tap Save.

Good to know

  • If someone else changed the settings while you were editing: "Someone else changed this while you were editing. Reload to see their changes, then make yours again."
