How do I test what readers get for a search word?

Where: Growth → Search & SEO → What readers search → Try a search

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/search/try (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

1. Open Growth → Search & SEO → What readers search → Try a search.
2. Type a word in What would a reader search for? and tap Search.
3. Read the results. A hint shows "Readers would be asked: did you mean …" when it applies.
4. On a result, tap Pin, Boost or Hide. Choose Pin at position …, Show higher, Show much higher or Show lower.

Good to know

• Pin, boost and hide only change the search for that word. They make a rule you can see under Pins & rules.
• The page shows how many of your rules apply.
• Pinning needs permission to curate search.

Common problems

• "Nothing found for this search." Add a synonym or pin a story.
