AI Autopilot guide: set it up and use it every day

In this story

Where: Newsroom → AI Autopilot

Before you start

  • AI Autopilot is an add-on. See your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
  • Only an owner or admin can set it up.
  • You need an AI connected. Go to Settings → Content & publishing → Your AI accounts. Your posts are written by your own AI account and you pay that company directly. You can also try one post first with Keynate Free AI.

Steps

Set up once

  1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. Find AI Autopilot. If it says Not in your plan, tap Buy. Wait until Being installed changes (usually a few minutes).
  2. Open Newsroom → AI Autopilot. If no AI is connected, tap Connect OpenRouter or Use another AI company.
  3. On "What should Autopilot do for you?" pick one:
    • Write posts about my topics: tap the topics you want (add your own), then choose how often (Light, Normal or Busy) and how pictures work.
    • Turn my website into posts: tick This website is mine and tap Read my website. Check the facts it found and untick any that are wrong.
    • Set up everything step by step myself: for people who want every choice.
  4. Under "Before posts go live" keep Show me each post first. Nothing goes live until you tap Publish.
  5. Tap Start writing. The first post takes about a minute. You can leave the page.
  6. Look at the phone preview. Tap Publish now, Change or Skip.

Every day

  1. Open Newsroom → AI Autopilot and go to Waiting. Each draft shows why it waits and its source.
  2. Tap Review in editor (or Source + editor to see both side by side). Check the facts against the source.
  3. Tap Approve and publish, or Reject to send it back to drafts.
  4. Check Run log to see what was written. If a run was wrong, tap Undo this run. The stories go offline and their versions are kept.
  5. When you trust a section, open Sections and change it from Wait for approval to Publish on its own. Keep the daily limit low at first.
  6. To stop everything at once, tap Pause. Nothing is lost.

Good to know

  • If nothing runs, the Overview page lists "Why nothing will run right now". Fix the first item.
  • Stories get a label that says AI helped. You stay responsible for what is on your site.
  • If your AI account stops working, the page says "Your AI connection stopped working. Posts are paused." Tap Reconnect, then Try again.
  • A drafted post that has no fitting picture can go live without one, or get a title picture made from the headline. You choose in the settings.

Common problems

  • "No AI is connected yet." Connect one in Settings → Content & publishing → Your AI accounts.
  • "Your AI account has no money left." Add credit on your AI account, then tap Try again.
  • "You already have a post about this." Pick another topic.
  • "We could not find the code on your home page or in the file." (Business posts → Use your website photos.) Check that the tag is inside the <head> of your home page, or that the file has exactly the code, then tap Check now.
  • "We could not reach this domain. Check that it is online with https." Open the address in your browser. It must open with https.
  • "This address can't be checked (private or blocked address)." Use your public website address, not a local or private one.
  • "Your site's rules for robots (robots.txt) don't let us read this page." Allow the home page (or the code file) in your website's robots.txt, then tap Check now.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will it publish things without asking me?

No, not at first. Every section starts at Wait for approval. You decide when a section may publish on its own.

Who pays for the AI writing?

You do, directly to your AI company. Keynate does not charge for AI use.

Can I take a post back?

Yes. Use Undo on a story or Undo this run in the Run log. You can also unpublish it like any story.

Can it write about my own business?

Yes. Choose Turn my website into posts. It reads the public pages of a website you own. You confirm the facts before it writes.
