How do I set up AI Autopilot in one step?

In this story

Before you start

  • AI Autopilot is an add-on. See your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
  • Only an owner or admin can set it up.
  • Connect your AI first. Autopilot uses your own AI connection and the cost is on your own AI account. If it is not connected, Autopilot asks you to connect it.

Steps

  1. Open AI Autopilot, then Set up in one step.
  2. Check the niche, country, language and time zone. They are filled in from your site. Change them if they are wrong.
  3. Choose how many stories a day: Light (3), Normal (6) or Busy (10). You cannot go above your site limit.
  4. Choose how you approve stories. The default is “I approve the first 5, then I decide”.
  5. Tap Continue. You see the plan. Nothing is saved yet.
  6. Read the plan: sections, trend sources, news sources, schedule, picture rules and topics that always wait for you.
  7. Tick I may use these sources. Untick a source you do not want. A source that Autopilot is not allowed to read is shown as skipped, with the reason.
  8. Tap Turn on Autopilot and read the warning.
  9. Open Waiting. Approve, edit or reject the first stories.
  10. After 5 approved stories, a card asks if some sections may publish on their own. Tick the sections and tap Allow. You confirm your sign-in again.

What setup does

  • Turns on the sections that fit your niche. It sets them to wait for your approval.
  • Adds news sources that are public and allowed to be read for your country and niche. Only the sources you ticked are saved.
  • Turns on trends for your niche, with a limit on trend stories per section.
  • Sets the daily limit from the speed you chose, and quiet hours at night.
  • Adds missing categories for your niche. New categories stay hidden from your menu until you approve them. Setup adds up to 12, and Autopilot can suggest up to 3 more a month.
  • Completes the AI Desk author page: photo, short note on how automation is used, and a link to it.
  • Shows if search sharing and social channels are connected.

If you run setup again, it only adds what is missing. It does not overwrite what you changed.

Where the stories come from

  • Trends come from public lists: Google Trends trending searches, GDELT and Wikipedia. A trend alone never becomes a story.
  • The text is written from the sources you approved. A story needs at least 2 independent sources to publish on its own. All sources are listed under the story.
  • Trends from X (Twitter) are not included. Autopilot does not read x.com.

The quality check

A story is held back unless it passes every check that applies:

  • The story score and the checklist before publishing have no failed check and no warning. A story needs a clear headline, search title and description, a short summary, a picture with alt text, a category, a byline and sources.
  • If one check fails, AI tries one repair. If it still fails, the story waits for you, with the reason shown.
  • It must not copy its sources. It is compared with them and with your last 200 stories.
  • Names, numbers, dates and quotes must be found in a source.
  • It is checked for repeated phrases and stock AI wording.

A full score is a quality check on your own site. It does not promise a place in Google or any other search.

Pictures

Autopilot picks a picture in this order:

  1. A picture from your own Media library that fits the story.
  2. A free picture that may be used commercially. It is saved to your Media library, and the author and licence are kept. A credit line shows under the picture.

Autopilot rejects a picture that has a logo, a brand mark, a watermark, text on top, a screenshot of another site or app, or any human face. If no safe picture is found, the story waits and shows "No image". It is never published with a doubtful picture.

Pictures made by AI are not used at launch.

Topics that always wait for you

These topics are never published on their own, even in a section you allowed:

  • Elections and politics.
  • Health.
  • Legal matters.
  • Money figures, such as prices, rates and returns.
  • Claims about named people.
  • Local incidents and crime.
  • Job and exam facts.

Some niches, such as Health and Jobs, never publish on their own. Support sites do not read outside sources at all.

Limits and control

  • Daily limit: 3, 6 or 10 stories, never above your site limit. There is also an hourly limit, and a limit per section.
  • Stories that publish on their own are paused at night. New sites start slower for the first 14 days.
  • Pause is on every Autopilot tab. It works at once and needs no extra sign-in.
  • Undo this run takes back the stories of a run. You can also undo one story.
  • The Quality tab shows for each story the check result, the picture and its licence, and why a story was held back.

After a story is published

  • Search engines that support IndexNow are told about it. Google is not one of them. Your news sitemap also updates.
  • If you connected Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn or X, the story is shared there when sharing is on. Nothing fails if no channel is connected.

Good to know

  • AI Desk is the byline. Autopilot never claims that a person wrote a story.
  • Google advises checking AI content before it is published. That is why you approve the first stories, and why sensitive topics always wait.
  • You are responsible for what is published on your site. Check the label and the sources of your first stories.
  • Autopilot does not promise more visitors or a better ranking.

Common problems

It asks me to connect my AI. Why: Autopilot writes with your own AI connection, and none is connected. Fix: Connect your AI in Settings → Content & publishing → Your AI accounts, then start setup again. Use your own AI key

Many stories wait with "No image". Why: No safe free picture was found, or the pictures had a logo, text or a face. Fix: Add pictures to your Media library with tags. Autopilot looks there first. Or add a picture to the story yourself and approve it.

A story waits and I do not know why. Why: A check failed, or the topic always waits for you. Fix: Open the story in Waiting or the Quality tab. The reason is shown.

No stories are written. Why: Autopilot is paused, the day limit is reached, or it is quiet hours. Fix: The Overview page lists why nothing will run right now.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can it publish without me?

Only after you approve the first stories and allow it for a section. You can pause it any time.

Does it read X (Twitter)?

No. X trends are not included. If you connect X, Autopilot can share your published stories there.

Can I change what setup did?

Yes. Every section, source and limit can be changed later. Setup does not overwrite your changes.

Does it use pictures made by AI?

No, not at launch.
