Before you start
- This feature is part of your site by default.
Steps
- Open Media, then the library.
- Upload pictures from your phone or laptop. You can choose many at once.
- Add alt text, a caption and a credit.
- To crop or change a picture, open the image editor.
Good to know
- Sort your files into folders and sub-folders, up to 6 levels. Deleting a folder never deletes its files.
- Open Media, then Photo settings for the watermark, compression, file size limits and licence expiry.
- SVG graphics are cleaned of scripts before they are stored.
- You cannot switch this feature off. Built-in features do not have a switch in Features.
Common problems
My upload does not work. Why: The file type may not be supported, or it is larger than the limit. Fix: Check the list of supported formats and your file size limits. See Why are my images not uploading?.

Frequently asked questions
Which image formats work?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and GIF are kept as they are. TIFF or BMP become PNG, and iPhone HEIC or HEIF photos become JPEG when your server can read them.
Is the location in my photo removed?
Yes. EXIF data such as location is removed when you upload.
Can I undo an edit?
Yes. Your original is kept, so every edit can be undone.
