How do I connect Google AdSense to earn from ads?

Where: Settings → Readers & money → Ads

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/ads (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

• A Google AdSense account. Create it at adsense.google.com.
• You must be the site owner.

Steps

1. In AdSense, open Account, then Account information.
2. Copy your Publisher ID. It looks like pub-1234567890123456. You can also paste the whole AdSense code.
3. In Keynate open Settings → Readers & money → Ads.
4. Find Google AdSense and paste the ID in Your AdSense publisher ID.
5. Leave Let Google place ads for me (Auto ads) ticked. This is recommended.
6. Press Save ad settings. This is the one bar that stays at the bottom of the Ads page. It saves everything on the page, and ad settings go live at once. You don't need Publish changes for them.
7. The page says Your ads.txt is ready and shows the line it added.
8. Press Open AdSense. In AdSense open Sites, add your site and press Verify. If AdSense asks how, choose ads.txt. Google looks for the line in your ads.txt.
9. Wait for Google. The page says: "AdSense approval can take a few days; ads start after Google approves your site."

Good to know

• AdSense approval can take a few days. Ads start after Google approves your site. Nothing is wrong while you wait.
• Keynate adds the ads.txt line for you. You do not have to edit anything. See ads.txt.
• Readers see ads only after they agree to cookies, where the law asks for it.

Common problems

• "This doesn't look like a publisher ID." It starts with pub- and then has about 16 digits. Copy it again from AdSense.
• AdSense says it cannot find ads.txt. Press Save ad settings again, wait a few hours, then press Verify in AdSense again. Open yoursite.com/ads.txt to see the line.
• No ads show. Google may still be reviewing your site. Check AdSense for messages.
