Where: Media → Where your videos live
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/video-hosting (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Before you start
You need permission to manage media providers. Video hosting is a separate add-on. Without it, uploaded videos are not available, but YouTube and Vimeo links work for free. See Choose a plan. Without the add-on, the page explains this calmly: "Nothing is broken. Your site keeps working as before."
Steps
- Open Media, then Where your videos live.
- Read the Where your videos live card. Keynate keeps the videos you upload in your site's storage and makes them start fast, even on slow phones. The card says if everything works or what needs you.
- Most sites stop here. Only if you already pay for a video service: open the Use another video service card and Pick a video service. Keynate (built in) is the default.
- Read what the service can do. The list can show Fast adaptive streaming, Preview pictures and Automatic captions.
- Paste the connection codes from the service's website in the fields shown, and tap Save video settings.
Good to know
- We keep these codes safe and never show them again. After saving, you see "Saved ••••" and the last digits. Saving asks for your password.
- Some features may be off on your server. For example "Picking a poster frame is not available on this server."
Common problems
- "The video host did not accept these keys. Check them and try again." Copy the keys again from your video provider.
