How do I show weather and air quality on my site?

In this story

Where: Stories → Weather and air quality

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/m/weather-aqi (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • This is an add-on. If the menu lists it under Add more features, see Choose a plan.
  • Connect a weather service first. If the page says "No weather service is connected yet.", tap Connect your weather service. See Weather and air quality data.

Steps

  1. Open Stories → Weather and air quality.
  2. On Places, tap Add your first place (or Add a place).
  3. In Find a city or place, type a city (for example Pune) and tap Search. Tap Use next to the right result.
  4. Check Name, Short name for links and Time zone (for example Asia/Kolkata).
  5. Optional: pick a City edition to show this place on that city edition. Tick Default place (shown in the top bar) for your main city.
  6. Tap Save place.
  7. To change the main city later, tap Make default on another place.
  8. Open the Settings tab. Pick the Weather and Air quality services, the Air quality scale and the Units. Turn Show air quality on or off.
  9. Tap Save weather settings.

Good to know

  • Each search uses one call of your weather service plan. If you know the map position, type Latitude and Longitude yourself instead.
  • The Air quality scale can be India (NAQI) or United States (EPA). Units can be °C, km/h, mm or °F, mph, in.
  • Your plan sets how many places you can add and how often the weather updates. The page shows "… of … places".
  • Name in each edition (optional) lets you show a different place name in each language edition.
  • Most no-cost weather service plans don't allow sites with ads. Pick a plan from your weather service that allows business use.
  • Deleting a place removes its weather from your site.

Common problems

"Your weather service plan has no calls left today. Try again tomorrow or type the map position yourself." Why: Your service's daily limit is used up. Fix: Type Latitude and Longitude yourself, or wait until tomorrow.

"Your plan shows up to … places. Delete one to add another." Why: You reached the number of places your plan allows. Fix: Delete a place you don't need, or see Choose a plan.

"Nothing found. Try another spelling or type the coordinates." Why: The service did not know that name. Fix: Try another spelling, or type the latitude and longitude.

"The weather service is not answering right now. Try again in a few minutes." Why: The service is down or slow. Fix: Wait a few minutes and try again.
