How do I run a live blog?

In this story

Where: Stories → Live blogs

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/live-blogs (replace <your-site> with your site address). It is a paid add-on: without it you see an add-on card.

Before you start

  • This is an add-on. It is included in some plans: see your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
  • Only the site owner can add it.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. The page is called Features.
  2. Find Live blog. A paid feature shows Paid and Needs with the plan that has it. Tap Buy and finish the purchase on keynate.com (it may open in a new tab).
  3. Come back to Features. It shows Being set up for a few minutes, then On.
  4. Open Stories, then Live blogs.
  5. Create a live blog and set its headline and key points.
  6. Go live, then post updates as they happen.
  7. Pause or end the blog when the event is over, then close it out.

Good to know

  • You can pin one update to the top, and mark an update as a key event.
  • Deleted updates and edits are kept in a history.
  • A live blog is Draft, Live, Paused or Ended. You can pause it and go live again.
  • Paid features cannot be switched off in Features.

Common problems

I cannot start another live blog. Why: You reached the number of live blogs that may run at once. Fix: End one that is finished, or ask the owner about the limit.

I cannot find Live blog in my admin. Why: The feature is off or not yet installed. Fix: Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. If it shows Buy, it is not in your plan yet. If it shows Being set up, wait a few minutes. Paid features you don't own are listed in the menu under Add more features.
