How do I run a live blog?

In this story

Where: Stories → Live blogs

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/live-blogs (replace <your-site> with your site address). It is a paid add-on: without it you see an add-on card.

Before you start

  • Live blogs are a separate feature of your site. Included in some plans: see your plan on keynate.com. If it is not on, the page shows an add-on card instead.
  • Owners, admins and editors manage live blogs. Reporters can post updates once a blog is live.

Steps

  1. Open Stories then Live blogs.
  2. Tap New live blog. Type the Headline (for example "Election results, live") and an optional Short introduction. Tap Create live blog.
  3. Tap Go live and confirm. Readers see the LIVE badge.
  4. Type in Post an update. Optionally add a headline and a photo, tick Key moment or Pin to the top, then tap Post.
  5. To fix a mistake, open the update and choose Edit update or Add a correction. A visible note tells readers what changed. The old text stays in the history.
  6. Use Pause and Resume if coverage stops for a while.
  7. When the event ends, tap Wrap up. Write a Summary of what happened, add up to 10 key points, and confirm. Choose Turn it into a normal story if you want it to become a regular article.

Good to know

  • Updates reach readers within seconds.
  • Deleting an update hides it from readers. It stays in the history for your team.
  • A live blog also has a Live events tab: a page for a big event that links your live blog and best stories.
  • End coverage removes the LIVE badge. Readers can still read every update.

Common problems

  • "Your role can post updates but cannot open the live blog list. Ask an editor to share the live blog with you." Reporters need the link to a blog. Ask an editor for the link.
  • "Go live to start posting updates." The blog has not started. Tap Go live.
