Where: Growth → Reach readers → Newsletters
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/m/newsletters (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Before you start
- This is an add-on. It is included in some plans: see your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
- Only the site owner can add it.
- A way to send: If your Newsletters page says your newsletters are sent with Keynate Email, you're set. Make sure your site's sending domain shows Verified (Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS). If it says "Keynate Email for newsletters is coming", connect your own email service for newsletters (Gmail / Google Workspace, Zoho, Brevo; 3 short steps). Sign-in codes and receipts still use Keynate Email.
Steps
- Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. The page is called Features.
- Find Newsletters. A paid feature shows Paid and Needs with the plan that has it. Tap Buy and finish the purchase on keynate.com (it may open in a new tab).
- Come back to Features. It shows Being set up for a few minutes, then On.
- Open Growth → Reach readers → Newsletters.
- Create a list readers can join.
- Create an edition: write it, search for stories to add, and preview it.
- Send a test, then send now or schedule it.
Good to know
- Sign-in codes and receipts always use Keynate Email. For newsletters, check your Newsletters page: it says either that they are sent with Keynate Email, or "Keynate Email for newsletters is coming". In that case connect your own email service. See Sending newsletters in steps.
- Emails sent count in your monthly total. See Usage and limits.
- You can cancel a scheduled edition.
- Each subscriber has a detail page with their consent record.
- Paid features cannot be switched off in Features.
Common problems
I cannot find Newsletters in my admin. Why: The feature is off or not yet installed. Fix: Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. If it shows Buy, it is not in your plan yet. If it shows Being set up, wait a few minutes. Paid features you don't own are listed in the menu under Add more features.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I test before sending?
Yes. There is a test send and a live phone and desktop preview. You also see the audience count.
Can I remove a subscriber?
Yes. You can unsubscribe or erase a subscriber.
Does it send from my own address?
Yes. If your Newsletters page says your newsletters are sent with Keynate Email, you're set. Make sure your site's sending domain shows Verified (Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS). If it says "Keynate Email for newsletters is coming", connect your own email service for newsletters (Gmail / Google Workspace, Zoho, Brevo; 3 short steps). How do readers join?
When a reader makes an account, the sign-up box shows Also send me the newsletter (ticked at the start, unticked in the EU and UK). Signed-in readers join with one tap. Visitors who are not signed in confirm by email. You choose with Add new readers to this newsletter. See Newsletters guide.
How do I verify my domain?
If your Newsletters page says your newsletters are sent with Keynate Email: (1) connect your own domain to your site, (2) on the Keynate Email card find Send from your own domain and add the listed records at the company where you manage your domain, (3) press Check my domain. When it says Verified, you're set. If the page says "Keynate Email for newsletters is coming", use your own email service instead (Gmail / Google Workspace, Zoho, Brevo).
