How do I get my stories into Google Discover?

In this story

Where: Settings → Content & publishing → Google and web addresses (Google Discover tips section)

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/seo#kn-seo-dc (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

  1. Use a sharp hero photo at least 1,200 px wide for every story. The editor warns you when it is smaller.
  2. Keep a wide 16:9 crop of the hero. Faces and the subject stay inside the crop.
  3. Write honest headlines that match the story. Avoid clickbait.
  4. Show who wrote the story and keep your About, Ethics and Corrections pages published.

Good to know

  • Pages already allow large image previews, so no extra setup is needed.
  • Google decides what to show. These habits only help.
