How do I tell search engines about new stories at once (IndexNow)?

Where: Settings → Content & publishing → Google and web addresses

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/seo (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

• You need permission to manage SEO.
• If you see "This feature is switched off. Add it from Add features.", add the feature first.

Steps

1. Open Settings → Content & publishing → Google and web addresses.
2. Under Tell search engines at once (IndexNow), turn on Send updates automatically.
3. Choose Search engines: IndexNow (all), Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam, Yep. Keep at least one on.
4. Optionally turn on Also announce sponsored stories.
5. Check Recent pings. Each shows the engine, the outcome and the number of addresses.

Good to know

• Your IndexNow key is public. It is served as a file on your site. Press Make a new key to replace it. The old key file stops working at once.
• Outcomes: Sent, Accepted, Rejected, Slowed down, will retry, Failed, Skipped (test server).
• The page shows how many addresses are waiting for the next batch.

Common problems

• "Keep at least one search engine on."
