How do I set my logo, colours and site name?

In this story

Where: Settings → Site & brand → Branding

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/branding (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • You need the owner or an admin account.
  • Have your logo files ready (light and dark backgrounds if you have both).

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Branding.
  2. Name and tagline. Enter Site name. Add a Tagline if you like. Optional: Name for Google News (must match the name in Google News Publisher Center) and App name (up to 30 characters, shown under the app icon).
  3. Logo and icons. Upload your Logo, Logo for dark mode, Wordmark, Browser icon (favicon), App icon and App opening screen. Icons are cropped to a square.
  4. Colours. Pick one of the Ready-made styles or enter Your brand colour. Keynate builds the other colours for light and dark mode. Choose Customise everything to change each part.
  5. Fonts and look. Choose Font pairings (Clean and modern, Classic newspaper, Long reads), fonts per writing system, text sizes, corners and spacing.
  6. Icons. Choose how icons look.
  7. Links and contact. Add the Email for readers, Phone, Postal address and your social links (full links starting with https://). Choose where they show.
  8. Preview and publish. On the last step, check Before you publish. Press Make a private preview, then Open preview when it says Preview ready. When you like it, press Publish and confirm. Readers see the new look in about a minute.
  9. Use Save along the way. The page says "Saved as version {version}."

Good to know

  • Nothing changes for readers until you publish. Finish later keeps your work.
  • To go back to an older look, open Design history (Settings → Site & brand → Design history).
  • The website updates without downtime. The apps pick up the new look in their next build.
  • Publishing waits if some colour pairs are hard to read. Press Fix them for me to correct them.
  • Undo the last change goes back one save. See Site versions.
  • You can also ask the AI assistant, for example "make the header dark green". Every AI change is a version you can undo.

Common problems

  • "Enter your site's name. It shows in the header, browser tabs and search results."
  • "Use a full link starting with https://"
  • "Someone else changed the branding. We loaded the newest version; please check your change again."
  • "We couldn’t prepare your new design. Your live site didn’t change. Try again, or ask support." Press Make a private preview again.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I go back to an older look?

Yes. Every save is a version. Going back saves the older version again as the newest, so nothing is lost.

Why was my colour changed?

Text colours that are hard to read are corrected automatically. The page names the colour it changed.
