How it works
- A publisher signs in to their News admin and opens Social sharing, then the Channels tab.
- They connect an account.
- When they publish an article, a post with the headline, image and link can be shared to that account.
- The app never posts without the publisher's action or settings, and never reads other people's data.
Why each permission is needed
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads). List the Pages and Instagram business accounts the publisher manages, and publish posts to them. Used only to choose a channel and publish.
- LinkedIn. Publish posts as the member or as an organisation page the member administers.
Good to know
- Channels you can connect. Facebook Page, Instagram, Threads and LinkedIn use Keynate's apps. Telegram uses a bot token that you create. X is sold separately as post packs. WhatsApp has no posting API, so each story gets a link that you copy and share by hand. The Channels tab shows what is available for your site.
- Connect needs Social sharing. It is an add-on. Only the site owner can connect a channel.
- Waiting for Keynate. A channel that goes through a Keynate app can show Coming soon or Waiting for app approval until the network approves Keynate's app. You do not need to do anything. Then Connect works.
How data is handled
- For Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn and Telegram, tokens are stored encrypted on the publisher's own server, not readable by Keynate. For X, Keynate keeps the encrypted token so it can post for the publisher.
- Data is used only to publish for that publisher. It is never sold or used for advertising.
- Google user data use follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
