Social sharing guide: connect, auto-share and fix

Before you start

• Social sharing is an add-on. See your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
• Only the owner can connect channels.
• Admin access to each channel. Facebook and Instagram need a Page you manage, and the Instagram account must be a Professional account linked to that Page.
• Every post needs a picture. Give your stories a lead image.

Steps

Set up once

1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features, find Social auto-share. If it shows Buy, buy it first. Wait until it shows On (not Being set up).
2. Open Growth → Reach readers → Social sharing. On the Channels tab, tap Connect next to the channel you want.
3. Follow the screen. For Facebook, Instagram and similar channels you sign in on their site and allow posting, then come back. Choose where to post, for example your Facebook Page.
4. For Telegram, tap Open BotFather and follow the steps shown: create a bot, copy its code, add the bot as an admin of your channel with Post messages on, then paste the code.
5. Tap Check. It says the channel works and posts nothing.
6. Tap Switch on.
7. Tap Auto-share rules. Turn on Share new stories automatically. Choose Wait before posting (a short wait lets you fix a typo), the sections you want and your quiet hours.
8. Tap Save.

Every day

1. Publish stories as usual. Auto-share posts them to every channel that has the rule on.
2. Open the Posts tab to see what happened: Waiting, Sent, Will retry, Gave up or Skipped. A skipped post tells you why.
3. Tap Try again on a post that failed, or Cancel on one you do not want.
4. To share one story, open it in the editor and use the share sheet. It shows a plan for each channel. Choose Share now or Pick a time.
5. For WhatsApp, tap Copy for WhatsApp channel and paste the message in your channel yourself. WhatsApp does not allow automatic posting.

Good to know

• Stories under embargo or on legal hold are never shared automatically.
• Some channels may show Waiting for app approval or Coming soon. You do not need to do anything.
• X is a separate add-on because X charges for posting. See Auto-share to X.
• If a channel shows Needs attention, auto-share to it is paused. Fix it, then press Check.

Common problems

• "This channel needs a picture." Add a lead image to the story.
• "The saved login no longer works." Tap Reconnect on the channel.
• "The bot is not an admin of the channel." In Telegram, open the channel, then Administrators, add your bot and keep Post messages on.
• "Today's posting limit is used up." Posting goes on tomorrow.
