How do I switch to another template?

Where: Settings → Site & brand → Change template

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/template (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

• You need the owner or an admin account.
• A template that is not in your plan can be previewed but not published. See your plan on keynate.com.

Steps

1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Change template.
2. Under Templates for your site, pick a template and press Preview in this template.
3. Confirm "Prepare a private preview of your site in {name}? Readers keep seeing your current site."
4. Wait. The status goes from "Getting the template ready…" to "Preparing your preview…" to Preview ready. This can take a few minutes.
5. Press Preview on phone, tablet and laptop, or Open in a new tab.
6. Read What carries over.
7. Press Publish this template and confirm. The status shows "Publishing…", then Live.

Good to know

• Every switch prepares a private copy first. Your live site is not changed until you publish.
• If the new template fails the safety check, your site stays on the version before: "Nothing was lost."
• Go back to {from} returns your site to the version that was live before the switch.
• Cancel preview drops the preview. Your live site never changed.
• A switch that went back shows Went back under Earlier switches.
• See all versions opens Site versions.

Common problems

• "The preview couldn’t be prepared." Press Try again. Your live site did not change.
• "This template isn’t in your plan yet. Buy it on keynate.com (you pay only the difference for the days left), then come back and publish." Press Buy on keynate.com. The template shows Not in your plan until then.
