How do I add an image from a web address?

In this story

Steps

  1. Open Choose an image and go to From URL.
  2. Paste the address into Image address (https://…). It must be a direct link to a JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or HEIC file.
  3. Write the Describe the image (alt text) and the Credit.
  4. Tap Add image.
  5. When you see "Added to your library and selected. Press Insert to use it.", tap Insert.

Good to know

  • Only use images you have the right to publish. The address is kept as the image source.
  • If you already have the exact same file, the message says: "This image was already in your library. It is selected."
  • Your site downloads the image once. It does not hot-link to the other site.

Common problems

  • "Enter a full image address that starts with https://" Add the full address.
  • The download fails. The address may not point to an image, or the other site blocks downloads. Save the file and use Upload instead.
