How do I sort, filter and select several pictures?

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/media (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

Search and sort

1. Open Media library.
2. Type in Search. It looks in alt text, caption and credit.
3. Open Sort by and choose Newest first, Oldest first, Name (A to Z), File size (largest), Dimensions (largest) or Most used.

Filter

1. Tap a type chip: All, Photos, Videos, Audio, Documents or Graphics.
2. Tap Filters. You can set File type, Uploaded by, Uploaded from, Uploaded until, and Only images without alt text.
3. When a folder is open, you can also tick Include sub-folders.
4. Tap Clear filters to start again. The button shows how many filters are on, for example "Filters (2)".

Select several

1. Tap Select, then tap the items. Or tap Select all shown.
2. Choose Move to…, Download file or Delete.
3. Tap Cancel to leave selection mode.

Change the view Tap Grid view or List view. The list shows the size, the dimensions, how many articles use each item, and when it was uploaded. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Good to know

• Only images without alt text is a quick way to fix accessibility. Add alt text to each one.
• Download takes up to 20 files at a time. Your browser may ask to allow several downloads.
• Delete warns you: "Deleted files can’t be brought back. Files that are still used are kept." Items used in a story or page are kept, and you are told how many.
• The library shows pages of items. Tap Load more to see the rest. A line says "Showing … of …".

Common problems

• "Nothing matches. Try another folder, search or filter." Clear the filters, or look in All media.
• "Some files opened in a new tab instead. Save them from there, or download them one by one from each item." Your browser blocked several downloads. Allow them or download one by one.
