How do I set what readers can save and follow?

In this story

Where: Settings → Readers & money → Reader library

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/reader-library (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • Admins can see the settings. Only the owner can change them: "Only the owner can change these settings. You can see them here."
  • Readers must be signed in. See Reader sign-in.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Readers & money → Reader library.
  2. Under Saving and history, set Keep reading history for (days), Saved stories per reader, Reading lists per reader and Follows per reader. Each box shows its allowed range.
  3. Under My feed, turn on Show "My feed" to readers.
  4. Set Stories no older than (days).
  5. Turn on Breaking stories first to show a live breaking story at the top of the first page.
  6. Under Leave these kinds of story out, tap kinds (for example Sponsored, Press release) to keep them out of My feed.
  7. Save. The page says "Saved".

Good to know

  • Readers choose whether to keep a history. Older entries are deleted after the days you set. Readers can also clear it any time.
  • A reader who reaches the saved-stories limit is asked to remove one first.
  • "My feed" shows the newest stories from what a reader follows. It never guesses from what they read.
  • Readers under the age of consent never get a feed based on their follows. Children only see the latest stories.
  • With "My feed" off, everyone sees the latest stories of their edition.
