Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/review-rules (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Before you start
- Add your team first. See Invite your team.
- A reviewer must be someone who can read other people's stories.
Steps
- Open Settings → Content & publishing → Review rules.
- Press New rule.
- Under Stories by choose A role, A team member or A section.
- Under Who or which section pick the one.
- Under Checked by choose the reviewer.
- If the story must also pass the legal check, tick Also needs the legal check.
- Read the sentence at the bottom, for example "Every story by an intern must be checked by Rahul before publishing."
- Press Add rule.
Good to know
- A story moves through these steps: draft, in review, legal check (when asked), ready, published.
- Critical topics, such as named people, elections, health and money figures, always need a person's approval as well.
- You can turn a rule Off and On again, edit it or delete it. Turning off or deleting asks you to sign in again.
- A rule shows Reviewer missing: fix this rule if the reviewer left the team or lost the permission.
- You can also ask the AI: "Every story by an intern must be checked by Rahul before publishing."
Common problems
- "Reviewer missing: fix this rule." Press Edit and choose another reviewer.
- The reviewer isn't in the list. Only people who can read other people's stories can review.
- A writer says they can't publish. That is the rule working. The reviewer needs to approve first.
