How do I give a story to someone on my team?

In this story

Where: Stories → All stories → The story editor

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/articles (replace <your-site> with your site address). Then open the one you want.

Where to find it

On a laptop it is in the right-hand column of the story editor. On a phone or tablet, scroll down below the story. Open Who is working on it. Teams with one writer may not see it.

Steps

  1. Under Assigned to, pick the person. Or tap Assign to me.
  2. Optional: pick a Desk or bureau and a Beat.
  3. Set a Deadline.
  4. Set the Priority and the Risk level.

Good to know

  • Reporters can take a story themselves; an editor can give it to anyone.
  • Sensitive and high-risk stories may need extra approval before publishing.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the person get a message?

They see the story in their list. The desk lead gets a reminder if the deadline is missed.
