How do stages, scheduling and revisions work?

In this story

Where: Newsroom → Approval steps

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/workflow (replace <your-site> with your site address). In the menu it sits under More.

Before you start

  • This feature is part of your site by default.
  • The owner or someone with permission to change the workflow.

Steps

  1. Open Newsroom, then Approval steps. The page is called Workflow.
  2. Set the stages and who may move a story into each.
  3. In the editor, use the publish and schedule options to set a time.

Good to know

  • A story under embargo is kept out of feeds, sitemaps, alerts and apps until its time.
  • Editors can also schedule an edit to go live later.
  • You cannot switch this feature off. Built-in features do not have a switch in Features.

Common problems

A story is stuck in a stage. Why: The person moving it does not have permission for the next stage. Fix: Ask the owner, or change who may move stories in Workflow.
