How do I switch AI off for a helper, a role or sensitive stories?

In this story

Where: Settings → Content & publishing → AI rules (Where AI is switched off section)

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/ai-rules#kn-ai-off (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • Only the site owner can change AI rules.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Content & publishing → AI rules → Rules tab.
  2. Under Helpers, tap a helper to switch it off for everyone. Helpers include AI assistant, Translation, Key points, Headlines and teasers, Summaries, Search texts, Tags and people, Image descriptions, Claims check, Related stories, Translation review, Web stories, Scheduled AI tasks and AI Autopilot.
  3. Under Roles, tap a role to stop that role from using AI. The owner always can.
  4. Under Stories by sensitivity, switch AI off for Sensitive stories or High-risk stories.
  5. Turn on Switch AI off on stories with a legal flag to keep legal stories away from AI.
  6. Keep AI tasks never publish on their own on. Scheduled AI tasks can then write drafts but cannot publish or unpublish. This is recommended.
  7. Save.

Good to know

  • A switched-off helper disappears for everyone.
  • Stories sent to legal review cannot be sent to an AI at all when the legal switch is on.
