  3. If one-tap connect is not available, create a key on the OpenRouter keys page. The key starts with sk-or-. Copy it.
  4. Paste it on the card and tap Test & connect.

Good to know

  • Free models have a daily allowance set by OpenRouter. To use paid models, add credit on the OpenRouter credits page. OpenRouter bills you directly.
  • With OpenRouter connected, Automatic uses free models.
  • The key stays on your own server. Keynate never sees it.

Common problems

Copy the whole key again. It must start with sk-or-. If you used one-tap connect, connect again.

Your OpenRouter account has no credit left

Add credit on the credits page, then tap Test again. Free models may still work.

OpenRouter is limiting requests right now

Free models have limits. Wait a minute, or add credit.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need OpenRouter to use AI?

No. You can use any provider in Use any AI with your own key.

Can I use free models only?

Yes. Leave Automatic on and do not add credit. OpenRouter then limits how much you can use each day.
