Before you start
- A Mistral console account.
- Billing switched on for your Mistral workspace, if Mistral asks for it.
- Only members who manage AI can connect an account, and you need to have signed in recently.
Steps
- Open the Mistral console keys page and sign in.
- Choose to create a new key and give it a name.
- Leave the expiry date empty. When a key expires, the AI stops working until you paste a new one.
- Copy the key. Mistral shows it only once.
- Open the billing page and make sure billing is active for the workspace that owns the key.
- In your site admin, open Settings → Content & publishing → Your AI accounts. Find the Mistral card.
- Paste the key and tap Test & connect. You see "Checking your key…" and then Connected ✓.
It is 32 letters and digits, with no prefix. Your admin checks the shape before it sends the key anywhere. Using AI providers
Good to know
- Mistral bills for usage in your workspace. Without active billing, requests can be refused. Keynate adds nothing on top.
- The key goes only to the AI workspace on your own server. Keynate never sees it and never adds a fee.
- Keep the key private. Never put it in a support ticket or a chat.
- If you stop using Mistral, remove the account in Your AI accounts and delete the key on the Mistral website too.
Common problems
Mistral refused this key
Copy the whole key again. A new key can take a few minutes to start working. If it is still refused, check that billing is active.
This doesn’t look like a Mistral key
A Mistral key has no prefix. It is exactly 32 letters and digits. Remove spaces before or after it.
Your Mistral account has no credit left
Open the billing page and fix the payment, then tap Test again.
Mistral is limiting requests right now
Wait a minute and try again.
