How do I connect my own web address (domain)?

In this story

Before you start

  • Your site can be still setting up. You can add the address while you wait. It goes live together with your website.
  • You need to sign in where you manage your web address (your domain provider).
  • Don't have an address yet? Choose I want to buy one. Keynate lists some sellers. You buy it from them, then come back and tap I bought one. Continue.

Steps

  1. Open My sites, tap your site, then Add your web address (or Manage web addresses if you already have one).
  2. Choose I have one. Like yournews.com. Then tap Add your web address again. The form opens.
  3. Step 1 of 3, Where should this site live? Choose Main address, or A section of your address if your business already has a website there.
  4. Step 2 of 3, Type your address. Type it or paste a link. Keynate keeps just the address. For a section, also type a short Section name such as blog, news, help or jobs. If it asks Which address should your site use?, keep the one marked (recommended).
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Under Add these records, copy each setting. Each one has a Type, a Name and a Value, with copy buttons. See What are DNS records?
  7. If the page says 1. Delete this old record, delete it first. Then add the new ones.
  8. Open your domain provider. The page shows the steps for GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, BigRock, Cloudflare, Google Domains or Squarespace, and other providers. Pick your provider if the page did not detect it. Tap the button with your provider's name, such as Open my GoDaddy DNS settings. Then work down the list: delete the red records, edit the yellow ones and add the green ones.
  9. Tap I’ve done this — check my address. Or tap I’ll do it later and come back.
  10. Step 3 of 3, We’re checking your address. You can close the page. Keynate emails you when it works.
  11. When the page says Your address is connected and the status says Live, tap the button with Open and your address, such as Open www.yournews.com.
