Providers with their own steps
GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, BigRock, Cloudflare, Squarespace (including former Google Domains), Amazon Route 53, IONOS and Wix. If yours is not in the list, choose Other / I don’t know to get general steps.
Steps
- On the page that shows the settings, check your provider is the right one. If not, tap Not right? Choose another provider.
- Tap the button with your provider's name, such as Open my GoDaddy DNS settings, Open my Hostinger DNS settings or Open my Namecheap DNS settings. It opens in a new tab. Sign in.
- Work down the list on the Keynate page. Each record has a colour:
- Red, Delete this record: delete it at your provider.
- Yellow, Edit: change the value to the one shown under Change to.
- Green, Add record: add it with its Type, Name and Value.
- Already right: nothing to do.
- Save at your provider. The Keynate page checks every few seconds and ticks off each record when it's done.
- Come back and tap I’ve done this — check my address.
Good to know
- The TTL box can stay on Automatic or 1 hour.
- If a setting with the same Type and Name already exists, edit it instead of adding a new one.
- The Name for the plain domain is written @ at most providers. Namecheap uses @. IONOS takes @ or an empty host. Amazon Route 53 wants the record name left empty. The steps for your provider say which.
- Cloudflare: set the cloud to grey ("DNS only").
- Provider screens change. If yours looks different, look for "DNS", "DNS records" or "Manage DNS."
- The page can email the steps to someone who manages your domain: Send these steps to someone.
Common problems
- I can't find DNS. Check you are in the account that bought the address, not the one that hosts your email.
- The record type is not allowed. Use the alternative value shown on the page.
