My domain does not work. What can I do?

In this story

Steps

  1. Open My sites, your site, then the address that does not work.
  2. Read the box under the chip. It names the problem.
  3. Compare each row in Your settings to copy with your domain account.
  4. Fix any row that Points somewhere else.
  5. Wait a minute and tap Check now.

Good to know

  • Your Keynate address keeps working while you fix this.
  • Not sure where your address is managed? Pick your provider on the page to see its steps.
  • You can send the steps to someone who manages your domain.

Common problems

  • Your Cloudflare orange cloud is on. Switch it to the grey cloud ("DNS only") for every row.
  • A setting points somewhere else. "[Name] points to [value]. Change it to the value shown here."
  • An old AAAA setting. Delete it, or some visitors will see your old site.
  • A CAA setting blocks the secure lock. Add a CAA setting for letsencrypt.org.
  • Old records must go first. The page lists "Delete this old record". Delete them before adding the new ones.
  • Still "Waiting for your settings". Check the Type, Name and Value of each row for typos or extra spaces. Then wait. It can take minutes, sometimes hours.
  • "Needs a fix". The settings in your domain account changed. Put back the settings shown.
  • "Paused". Keynate checks once a day now. Tap Check now after you change your settings.
  • The address already points to another website. If you use it here, this site replaces it. To keep the old one, use a section address like blog.yournews.com.
  • "[address] is already used by another site." Remove it from that site first.
  • "Check again in … s". Wait for the timer. Keynate limits how often you can check.
