Open this page: admin.<your-site>/breaking (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Steps
- Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. The page is called Features.
- Find Breaking ticker under For your site. If it is not there, open Other niches. Tap Switch on (or Show in my admin). When it shows On, it is ready.
- If it shows Needs and a plan name, your plan does not include it yet. See Choose a plan.
- Open Newsroom → Breaking news.
- Add a ticker line. Set its end time and its priority.
- Save. The line shows in the bar until its end time.
Good to know
- Higher numbers show first.
- You can also post breaking news fast from your phone with Quick breaking story.
- Only the site owner can switch features on. Others see: "Only the owner can add features. Ask the owner to switch one on."
Common problems
The ticker is empty. Why: All lines have passed their end time, or none was added. Fix: Add a new line with a later end time. The list says "No ticker items. Add one when news breaks."
I cannot find Breaking ticker in my admin. Why: The feature is off or not yet installed. Fix: Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features and tap Switch on or Show in my admin. If a screen says "This feature is switched off. The owner can switch it on in Features.", ask the owner.
