How do I publish a sponsored story?

In this story

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features. The page is called Features.
  2. Find Sponsored and branded content. If it shows Off, turn on Use this feature.
  3. If it says Not in your plan, see your plan on keynate.com (Choose a plan).
  4. Open the story in the editor.
  5. Open the Trust panel. Under Story label choose Sponsored, Partner content or Advertorial.
  6. Under Sponsor, fill in the Sponsor name and the Disclosure line readers see. Add a logo and website if you wish.
  7. Save the story first, then tap Create approval link and send it to the sponsor.

Good to know

  • Copy the approval link at once. It is shown only once, works one time, and a new link replaces it.
  • The sponsor can answer: approved, or asked for changes.
  • A sponsored story needs a sponsor and a disclosure line. Your publishing checklist can block it if they are missing.
  • To stop using it, turn Use this feature off. Your site and admin then stop showing it, and you can turn it on again any time.

Common problems

It says sponsored labels need the sponsored content add-on. Why: The feature is not switched on for your site. Fix: Open Settings → Site & brand → Add features and switch it on.

I cannot find Sponsored and branded content in my admin. Why: The feature is off or not yet installed. Fix: Open Add features in Settings. The admin says: "This feature is switched off. The owner can switch it on in Features." Ask the owner to switch it on, or buy it if it says Not in your plan.
