How do I create a poll or form?

Where: Growth → Reach readers → Polls & forms → New poll or form

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/growth/forms/new (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Steps

1. Open Growth → Reach readers → Polls & forms → New poll or form.
2. Under What is it?, choose Poll, Survey, Feedback, Quiz or Lead form. You choose the kind once.
3. Enter a Title, and a Short introduction if you like.
4. Under Questions, enter the Question. A poll has one question. Use a survey for more.
5. Choose the Answer type: Pick one, Pick several, Rating, Short answer, Long answer, Email address, Number or Date.
6. For choices, tap Add a choice. For a rating set Highest rating.
7. Tick Readers must answer this if needed. Tap Add a question for more.
8. Under When, set Opens and Closes, or leave them empty.
9. Under Who can answer and see results, choose whether readers must be signed in, how often they can answer, and Show results to readers.
10. Write the Thank-you message.
11. Tap Save, then Open when you are ready.

Good to know

• Results shown to readers: Always show results, After they answer or when it closes, or Never (only your team sees them).
• Answers per reader: One answer per reader per day, One answer per signed-in reader or Anyone, as often as they like.
• Show this question only if… shows a question depending on an earlier answer.
• Quizzes: tick This choice is correct, set Points for a right answer and an Explanation shown after answering.
• Email questions and lead forms need a Consent text of at least 10 characters. Children never give an email.
• Once someone has answered, the questions are locked. You can still change the title, dates, who may answer and the thank-you text.

Common problems

• "Give it a title."
• "Write question …." / "Fill in every choice for question …."
• "The close date must be after the open date."
• "People have already answered, so the questions can’t change any more…" Close it and start a new one.
