Where: Growth → Reach readers → Sign-up prompt
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/growth/signup-prompt (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Before you start
You need permission to manage the site. Readers need a confirmation email, so connect an email service first. If it is missing you see Connect email.
Steps
- Open Growth → Reach readers → Sign-up prompt.
- Turn on Show the sign-up prompt.
- Under What readers are invited to, choose Automatic, Newsletter, Email list (free), Membership or Push alerts.
- Under Look and texts, choose Slide-in, Bottom bar or Pop-up. Write the Title, Text (optional) and Button text. Check What readers will see.
- Under When it shows, set After seconds on the page, After scrolling (% of the page), From which story a reader opens (2 = their second) and/or Also when a reader is about to leave (computers only).
- Set Days to wait after a reader closes it. 7 is a good start.
- Under Show on, choose the languages.
- Tap Save. Your site shows the change within a minute.
Good to know
- Automatic invites readers to your newsletter if you have the Newsletters feature. Otherwise it collects email addresses for free, see Email sign-ups.
- It shows when the first trigger happens. With all empty it shows after 15 seconds.
- It never shows on the first paint of a page, while the cookie notice is open, to signed-in readers who already have what it offers, or again within the waiting days.
- On phones every look opens as a sheet at the bottom of the screen.
- Status shows "Showing: …", "Off", or "Not showing yet: what you chose needs one more step (see below)". Each goal says if it works now or what to fix, for example Add the feature.
- Membership is shown only while a payment gateway is connected.
Common problems
- Not showing yet: what you chose needs one more step (see below). Follow the fix under the goal.
