How do I connect my own OpenRouter account?

In this story

Where: Home → AI assistant → Connecting OpenRouter

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/ai/openrouter/callback (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • Only the owner can connect OpenRouter. A free OpenRouter account is enough for free models.

Steps

  1. Open AI assistant. Find OpenRouter: your own AI account.
  2. Tap Connect OpenRouter. You sign in at openrouter.ai and come straight back.
  3. You see "Connecting OpenRouter", then "OpenRouter is connected". Choose a model and start a task.
  4. If one-click connect is not available, tap Paste a key instead and paste your key, then Save key.
  5. Use Choose model to set the default for new tasks.
  6. Tap Disconnect to remove the key from your server.

Good to know

  • Your key is kept only on your server and never shown again. Keynate never sees it.
  • The card shows your free requests today and credit left when OpenRouter reports them.
  • One-click connect needs your admin on its own https address.

Common problems

  • "OpenRouter couldn’t be connected. Go back and click Connect OpenRouter again." The sign-in did not finish. Go back and connect again.
  • "OpenRouter doesn’t accept this key any more." The key was revoked. Connect again or paste a new key.

Questions
