Should my site open with www or without?

In this story

Choose it when you add the address

  1. In Step 2 of the add-address flow, read Your site will open at.
  2. Under More options, tick Use … without "www" as the main address instead (www… is sent to it).
  3. Continue. The settings to copy are the same either way.

Change it later

  1. Open My sites, your site, then the address.
  2. Tick Use … without "www" as the main address. The settings stay the same. The redirect flips.

Good to know

  • Only a main address (not a section like blog.yournews.com) has this choice.
  • Some domain providers don't allow the record type for the plain address. The screen may show an alternative value to use instead.
  • Your Keynate address keeps working.

Common problems

  • "[address] already points somewhere else." Maybe an old website or a parking page from where you bought it. If you use the address here, this site replaces it. To keep your old site, use a section address instead, for example blog.yournews.com.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will visitors on the other version get an error?

No. The one you did not choose redirects to the main one.
