In this story

Where: Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/connections/email (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • Only the owner can change this.
  • The SMS feature must be on your site, or the tab shows an add-on card.
  • For India you need an approved sender and a DLT template. Have your MSG91 account ready.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS → SMS & WhatsApp.
  2. Press Add SMS provider.
  3. Enter the Auth key (from MSG91, Authkey).
  4. Enter the Sender id: exactly 6 letters approved on your DLT account.
  5. Choose the Route: OTP or Transactional.
  6. Enter the DLT entity id (usually 19 digits).
  7. Enter a Webhook token of 16 to 200 characters, or press Generate a token. Copy it now. It is not shown again after saving.
  8. Press Connect.
  9. In MSG91, open Webhooks and add the webhook URL shown, with ?token= and your token at the end.
  10. Type your number in Send a test SMS to (with country code, for example +91 98765 43210), then press Test connection on the card.

Common problems

  • "Use exactly 6 letters approved on your DLT account."
  • "DLT ids are 19 digits. Copy it from your DLT portal."
  • "Add the DLT template id. SMS to India are blocked without it." Set it in Message templates.
  • "Paste the auth key from MSG91."
  • "Use 16 to 200 characters. Tap “Generate a token” to make one."
  • "Enter a valid mobile number with country code, e.g. +91 98765 43210."
