How do I connect Razorpay?

Where: Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Payments

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/connections/payments (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

• A Razorpay account. Start in Test mode in Razorpay.
• You must be the site owner.

Steps

1. In the Razorpay dashboard, switch to Test mode.
2. Go to Settings → Advanced → Connect other apps → API keys and generate a key. Copy the key id and key secret. Razorpay shows the secret only once.
3. In Keynate, open Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Payments and press Connect Razorpay (or Add connection).
4. Choose Test mode. Paste the Key id (it starts with rzp_test_), the Key secret and the Webhook secret.
5. Press Connect Razorpay at the bottom of the sheet.
6. On the card, find Let Razorpay tell your site about payments. Razorpay doesn't let other apps do this for you, so it is one minute in Razorpay. It has 3 steps:
   1. Open Razorpay → Webhooks and press Add New Webhook.
   2. Fill Razorpay's form with the Webhook URL, the Secret and the Active events (tick each one). Each has a Copy button. The secret is shown only once. If you lost it, press Edit, then Make a new secret code for me.
   3. Press Create Webhook. Then make a small test payment.
7. Watch the line under the steps. It says Waiting for Razorpay's first message… and turns green with We received Razorpay's first message. when it works. Payments then show as paid by themselves. Press Check now to look again. Later, Show the steps again opens the steps.
8. Press Test connection on the card, then make a test payment.
9. When it works, press Go live with Razorpay in the Test mode bar and add your live keys (rzp_live_). For live mode the card turns green after your first real payment.

Good to know

• Key ids must start with rzp_test_ for test mode or rzp_live_ for live mode.
• Use a different webhook secret for test and live.

Common problems

• "Key ids start with rzp_test_ (test mode) or rzp_live_ (live mode). Copy it from the API keys page inside your Razorpay dashboard."
• "Paste the key secret. Razorpay shows it only once, when you create the key." Generate a new key if you lost it.
• "Paste the webhook secret you typed in Razorpay."
