Before you start
- A Groq console account. Only owners and developers of a Groq organisation can create keys.
- Only members who manage AI can connect an account, and you need to have signed in recently.
Steps
- Open the Groq console keys page and sign in. Accept the terms the first time.
- Choose Create API Key, give it a name and submit.
- Copy the key right away. Groq shows it only once.
- Look at the billing page to see your limits and add a payment method if you need more.
- In your site admin, open Settings → Content & publishing → Your AI accounts. Find the Groq card.
- Paste the key and tap Test & connect. You see "Checking your key…" and then Connected ✓.

Good to know
- Groq may offer free use with limits. Limits are shared by every key in your Groq organisation. Beyond that, Groq bills you directly. Check Groq’s current terms for what is free.
- The key goes only to the AI workspace on your own server. Keynate never sees it and never adds a fee.
- Keep the key private. Never put it in a support ticket or a chat.
- If you stop using Groq, remove the account in Your AI accounts and delete the key on the Groq website too.
Common problems
Groq refused this key
Copy the whole key again. If you lost it, create a new one, because Groq cannot show it a second time.
Groq is limiting requests right now
Free limits are shared by all your keys. Wait a minute, or upgrade your Groq account.
No model on this account can make site changes
Some Groq models cannot make site changes. Choose another model in the model list.
Groq isn’t answering right now
