Before you start
- You need the AI assistant (AI workspace).
- Only the site owner can turn a function on. The owner must be signed in recently.
- Keynate may switch this feature off for now on some sites.
Steps
- Ask the AI assistant for what you want. For example: "Every hour, get the price list from this website and update my chart."
- Open Settings → Content & publishing → Automations → Functions.
- Tap Review on the new function. Read what it will do.
- Use Try it to see what it would change. Nothing is changed in this test.
- Tap Turn on. Later, you can Pause, Run now or Remove it.
Good to know
- Every change makes a new version. A new version waits for your approval. You can go back to an older version.
- A function runs in a locked box. It can only do what you approved, and only with the permissions you have.
- A function can make drafts. It cannot publish for you.
- It can read from a web address only if you approved that address. Each run has strict limits on time and size.
- A function that fails 10 times in a row is turned off, and you get a notice.
- When Keynate updates your site, your functions are kept. If one needs a change, you are told.
Common problems
- A function stopped. Open Functions and look at the run log. Ask the AI "Why did my function fail last night?".
- It says it needs your approval. A new version was saved. Open Review and turn it on.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can a function publish stories or delete things?
No. Functions can make drafts, but people publish. They cannot delete.
Who pays for the AI that writes the function?
You pay your own AI account. Keynate does not sell AI credits. Running a function costs nothing extra.
