How do I connect my own domain?

In this story

Where: Settings

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • You need the owner or an admin account.
  • Have your domain name ready.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then Set up your site.
  2. Find Your domain.
  3. Read the status. It tells you one of these:
    • "Your site is on address. Connect your own domain on keynate.com."
    • "Your domain is being connected. This can take up to an hour."
    • "Your site is live on address."
    • "Your site address isn't working. Open keynate.com to fix it."
  4. Press Set up or Fix it. keynate.com opens in a new tab.
  5. Follow the steps there to connect or repair the domain.

Good to know

  • The status is Done when your site runs on your own domain. A Keynate address counts as Not set up.
  • The admin never changes your domain records for you.
  • If the link to keynate.com is not available for your site, the button opens Settings → Site & brand → Languages instead.

Common problems

  • "Your domain is being connected." Wait up to an hour. Then check again.
  • "Your site address isn't working." Open keynate.com from the card and follow the fix steps.
