Where: Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Payments
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/connections/payments (replace <your-site> with your site address)
Before you start
- Only the owner can add, edit or remove connections.
- Have your gateway dashboard open to copy keys. The sheet has a Where do I find these in link that opens it in a new tab.
Steps
- Open Settings → Readers & money → Connections. On the Payment gateways card, press All payment settings. Stay on the Connections tab.
- Press Add connection (or Connect Razorpay, Connect Stripe, Connect PayPal if you have none).
- Choose the Gateway: Razorpay, Stripe or PayPal.
- Choose the Mode: Test mode or Live mode.
- Give the connection a Name. Only you see it.
- Paste your keys. The fields depend on the gateway. See Razorpay, Stripe or PayPal.
- Leave Make default on if readers should pay through this connection. Readers pay through the default connection of each mode.
- Press the button at the bottom of the sheet. It reads Connect Razorpay, whichever gateway you chose. The admin may ask you to confirm it is you before saving keys.
- On the new card, open the Webhook section (its title says "paste into Razorpay" for every gateway). Copy the Webhook URL and tick the listed events in your gateway dashboard.
- Press Test connection. A good result says "Connected."
Good to know
- The card shows the mode (Test mode or Live mode), the health (Working, Not checked yet, Not working, Off) and "Default".
- Saved secrets are never shown again. Paste a new one to replace it.
- You cannot change the mode of a connection. Add a new connection instead.
- The card menu has Make default, Turn off and Remove. Removing means readers cannot pay through it. Past orders keep their records.
- Live mode takes real money. Publish your Terms, Refund and Contact pages first.
- A test-mode-only setup shows: "Test mode: readers can't buy until you add live keys."
Common problems
- "Razorpay didn't accept these keys. Check that the key id and secret are from the same mode."
- "This is a live key but you chose Test mode. Switch the mode or paste a test key." The reverse message appears for a test key in Live mode.
- "Use a different webhook secret for test and live."
- "Publish your Terms, Refund and Contact pages before going live."
- "Nothing was saved. Confirm it's you to save the keys."
- "Give this connection a name, e.g. “Razorpay test”."
- "Enter the key id from your gateway dashboard."
- "Use at least 20 characters: letters, digits, _ or - only. Tap “Make a new secret code for me” to get one." This is the Razorpay webhook secret.
