How do I send email from my own address?

In this story

Where: Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/settings/connections/email (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

  • Connect an email provider first. Otherwise the tab says "Connect an email provider to see the records to add."
  • You need access to the place where your domain's DNS is managed.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Email & SMS → Sending domain.
  2. Under Records for, read each row: Purpose (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, Return path), Type, Name and Value.
  3. Copy each row with the copy buttons.
  4. Add the records at your domain provider.
  5. Wait. Changes can take up to an hour.
  6. Press Check now. The State shows OK, Missing, Wrong value or Not checked.

Good to know

  • Keynate never changes your DNS.
  • If you use Keynate Email, its card has its own records (DKIM, bounce address MX, sender check SPF, DMARC) and a Check my domain button. They are optional. Until your domain is verified, emails come from a shared Keynate address.

Common problems

  • State is Wrong value. Edit the record at your DNS provider so it matches the value shown.
  • State stays Missing. Wait up to an hour, then press Check now.
