How do I bring my site back to an earlier day?

In this story

Before you start

  • You are the site owner. Only the owner can restore.
  • Your site is running.

Steps

  1. Open My sites and choose your site.
  2. Press See backups.
  3. Find the day you want in Your backups. A row must say Ready to restore.
  4. Press Restore this backup.
  5. Read the box. It tells you what goes back, and that stories or changes you made after that day are taken off your site.
  6. If you also want your photos and videos from that day, tick Also bring back photos and videos from that day.
  7. Press Yes, restore my site. To stop, press Keep my site as it is.
  8. Wait. It usually takes a few minutes. Your site may be unavailable for a short time. Keynate emails you when it is done.

Good to know

  • First Keynate saves a safety backup of your site as it is now. It is in your list as Safety backup before a restore.
  • To undo a restore, restore that safety backup.
  • Your site is not changed if the restore fails.

Common problems

  • "A restore is already running." Wait until it finishes.
  • "This backup can't be used." Choose another day.
  • "Your site is getting a Keynate update first." Try again in an hour. Nothing was changed.
  • "That took a little long." Press the button again.
  • Photos and videos did not come back. They stay as they were. Try again from the list. Photos are in backups only with Photo & video backup.
