How do I show my service status on my help site?

Where: Settings → Advanced → Status widget

Open this page: admin.<your-site>/niche/help/status (replace <your-site> with your site address)

Before you start

• You need permission to manage the help centre.
• To read an outside page, you need a status page from Atlassian Statuspage, Instatus or Better Stack.

Steps: set the status by hand

1. Open Settings and choose Status widget.
2. Under Status source, choose Set by hand.
3. Choose the Status: Working, Slow, Outage or Maintenance.
4. Write a Message.
5. Choose Save. The message is Status widget saved.

Steps: read your own status page

1. Open Settings and choose Status widget.
2. Under Status source, choose My status page.
3. Under Status page service, choose Atlassian Statuspage, Instatus or Better Stack.
4. Enter the Status page address. It must start with https://.
5. Choose Save.

Readers see now shows what readers see at this moment. To hide the widget, choose Off.

Good to know

• Every 2 minutes. Your site reads the outside page about every 2 minutes. Readers never contact that page through your site. The pill only links to it.
• If the page stops answering, your site keeps the last good status for 15 minutes. After that the status shows as Unknown.
• Which pages are allowed. The address must be a public https site. Private or internal addresses are refused.
• Pair it with Known issues and notices for the details.

Common problems

• "This address is not allowed (it must be a public https site)." Use the public https address of your status page.
• "Your status page did not answer in time." The page was slow or down. Try again later.
• "Your status page answered, but we could not read its status." Check that you chose the right service.
• "Your status page answered {code}." The page replied with an error code, for example 404. Check the address.
