Where: Stories → Hubs & topics
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/niche/help/hubs (replace <your-site> with your site address). In the menu it sits under More.
Before you start
- This is on by default for the Help Center and Product Docs kind of site.
- You need permission to manage the help centre.
- Create the sections first. Open Sections & tags and add one top-level section for each product. See Sections and tags.
Steps
- Open Stories and choose Hubs & topics.
- Choose New hub.
- Under Section, pick a section. Only top-level sections that are not yet a hub are listed.
- Fill in Name, Short description, Icon (Material name) and Order.
- Choose the Audience: Consumers, Business or Developers.
- Fill in the Still need help? panel if you want it. See Contact options.
- Turn on Show to readers when the hub is ready. A hub that is off shows as Draft. A live one shows as Live.
- Choose Save. The message is Hub saved.
To add topics, create sub-sections inside the hub's section. A topic is a sub-section, and a hub shows two levels.
Good to know
- One published hub hides the switcher. The switcher shows only when readers have more than one hub to choose from.
- Each section can be one hub. If you try to use a section that already belongs to a hub, you see: "This section already belongs to another help hub."
- Removing a hub is safe. The message is: "Hub removed. The section and its articles stay."
- Hubs filter other lists. Release notes and known issues can be listed per hub. An entry belongs to a hub through its section.
- Insights. The hub name also shows in Help insights.
Common problems
- My section is not in the list. Only top-level sections without a hub are listed. A sub-section can't be a hub.
- Readers can't see my hub. Turn on Show to readers.
