Where: Readers & money → Orders & refunds
Open this page: admin.<your-site>/money/orders (replace <your-site> with your site address). In the menu it sits under More.
Before you start
- Connect a payment gateway in Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Payments.
- Only the site owner can give refunds, and you must confirm it’s you first.
Steps
See orders
- Open Readers & money, then Orders & refunds.
- Filter by Status and by Test or live (All, Test mode, Live mode).
- Tap an order to open Order details.
Give a refund
- Open the order and tap Refund.
- Choose Everything left or Part of it. For part of it, type the Amount. It can be at most what is left.
- Choose a Reason. Add a Note for your team if you want.
- Tap the refund button and confirm: "Refund … to …? This can’t be undone."
- Confirm it’s you when asked.
Get an invoice
- Open the order and tap View invoice.
- Tap Print or save as PDF.
Good to know
- An order is paid only after the gateway’s signed message arrives.
- The order shows the amount, status, mode, GST breakdown, payments, refunds and the gateway events.
- The GST credit note is created when the gateway confirms the refund. Until then you see "Pending at the gateway — we’ll confirm within a few minutes."
- Test mode: no real money moved. Test orders use their own TEST invoice series, so your real invoice numbers have no gaps.
- If a reader disputes a payment with their bank, their access is paused until the dispute ends. Answer it in your gateway dashboard. If they win, the money is taken back, access is removed and a credit note is issued.
- To see one reader's orders, open the reader and follow the link. Use Show all readers’ orders to go back.
Common problems
- "No orders yet." Try a small test payment from Settings, Payments.
- "Nothing was refunded. Confirm it’s you to refund." Sign in again when asked, then retry.
- "The payment connection for this order isn’t working. Fix it in Settings → Readers & money → Connections → Payments, then try again."
- "Printing didn’t start. Use your browser’s print menu."
